Mellitah Oil & Gas, a joint venture (JV) between Italy’s energy giant Eni and the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC), has fortified Libya’s gas production with the start-up of an offshore compression project. Mellitah Oil & Gas has achieved hydrocarbon production from theSabratha compression project, which Eni describes as a strategic offshore development designed to sustain and increase gas output from theBahr Essalam gas field, located approximately 100 kilometers off Libya’s coast. This project consists of the installation of a new 1,600-ton compression module on theSabratha platform, equipped with new compression trains, providing an overall compression capacity of about 440 million standard cubic feet per day (scfd). The new module is said to enable production under low-pressure conditions, offsetting the natural decline of the Bahr Essalam field and maximizing gas recovery, ensuring increased volumes of gas of about 800 million cubic meters per year and associated condensate. The Italian giant emphasizes that the additional production will play a critical role in sustaining national power generation, reinforcing the country’s energy security, and supporting export to Italy via theGreenstream pipeline. “The successful start-up of the Sabratha compression project confirms Eni and NOC’s commitment to timely deliver complex offshore developments, even in challenging environments,”highlighted Eni. “The project strengthens the resilience of Libya’s gas infrastructure and represents a tangible contribution to the stability and growth of the country’s energy sector.” This content is available after accepting the cookies.

The first of three power take-off (PTO) modules for Carnegie Clean Energy’s CETO wave […] The post PTO module assembly starts for BiMEP-destined wave energy unit ahead of October deployment appeared first on Offshore Energy .
The first of three power take-off (PTO) modules for Carnegie Clean Energy’s CETO wave energy converter (WEC) has been delivered to SKF’s manufacturing facility in Germany, where final PTO assembly works are being carried out, before ocean deployment set for October. CETO is a fully submerged, point absorber-type wave energy technology device. A submerged buoy sits a few meters below the surface and moves with the ocean’s waves. This orbital motion drives a PTO system that converts this motion into electricity. The unit will operate at the Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP) for two years, gathering data to validate CETO technology and advance commercialization. Assembly works at SKF include the integration of all PTO equipment into each of the three PTO modules, including generators, tensioners, shafts, couplings, bearings, seals, and sensors, essentially connecting all the power-generating equipment inside the module. The current PTO assembly works follow on from the previously completed assembly of the electrical module (EM), undertaken with SEI, a local Basque supplier. As the PTO module assembly process advances, system testing will be undertaken to validate communication between the EM and PTO modules in preparation for offshore deployment. “There is a growing sense of excitement amongst our talented team that offshore deployment is getting closer. We look forward to meeting the goal of having our world leading offshore power generation device in the water in 2026. Delivery of CETO will position Carnegie at the forefront of ocean energy and provide a strong platform for commercial project opportunities into the future,”said Carnegie’s CEOJonathan Fievez. Carnegie plans a staged deployment and commissioning process for the CETO unit, commencing with deployment of the foundations at the BiMEP berth in the coming quarter. The first stage of ocean deployment is planned for October, with subsequent ocean deployment, commissioning and testing stages progressively completing the system and moving to optimization. The company further announced it was currently procuring specialist marine contractors to undertake the installation of foundations and mooring systems, connection to the existing export cable and installation of the CETO unit.
L’attuazione procede però a rilento, frenata dai negoziati su settori chiave come auto e tessile, e soprattutto da infrastrutture logistiche, porti e dogane ancora troppo fragili e costosi.

Australia’s energy player Santos has ironed out a decade-long gas supply agreement with the South Australian government. The post Santos seals ten-year gas supply deal appeared first on Offshore Energy .
Australia’s energy player Santos has ironed out a decade-long gas supply agreement with the South Australian government. Santos has executeda gas sale agreement (GSA)with the South Australian government to supply 20 PJ per annum, or 200 PJ in total, of domestic gas for the strategic gas reserve over ten years from March 1, 2030, coinciding with the expiry of the firm’s Horizon contract with the GLNG joint venture. This deal, which is valid to 2040, follows the agreement of key terms on February 20, 2026. This GSA is interpreted to support the long-term future of theCentral fieldsnear Moomba in South Australia, which contain more than 50% of the remaining 2P reserves in the Cooper Basin after the Australian giant and its joint venture partner, Beach Energy, took a final investment decision (FID) in March 2026 to proceed with theMoomba Central Optimisation (MCO)project. The development is anticipated to unlock the full productivity of the Central fields and reduce unit production cost and carbon emissions. The prepayment structure of the GSA will directly support Santos’ capex investment in the MCO project, which is planned to be delivered over three years. Kevin Gallagher, Santos’ Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, highlighted:“This agreement helps secure affordable domestic gas supply for South Australian industry to 2040 and enables Santos to invest in the long-term future of the Cooper Basin. “Santos is an important corporate citizen of Adelaide and South Australia, employing around 700 people in Adelaide and another 400 in Port Bonython, Whyalla and Moomba. This agreement helps secure jobs in Adelaide and regional South Australia for at least the next 15 years.” The project is designed to replace seven ageing gas-driven compressor stations with one electric-driven compressor station that will debottleneck upstream infrastructure. The new inlet compression and additional power generation capacity at the Moomba gas plant will be installed to receive gas and power the upstream satellite. Gallagher underlined:“It is good news for all the South Australian businesses and community partners we work with. Last year alone, Santos spent more than A$370 million with local businesses, invested A$6 million in South Australian sport and community initiatives, and paid about A$60 million in state royalties and taxes. “This agreement will support the government’s visionary South Australian Strategic Gas Reserve that will help ensure South Australia’s industrial future and energy security, including the planned sale and transformation of the Whyalla Steelworks.” This content is available after accepting the cookies. LNG capacity boost emerging in Oceania as new gas project gets the green light As a result, the development is expected to enable the Central fields to be operated remotely, with operations support provided from the Moomba operating centre. Gallagher concluded:“Importantly, this agreement demonstrates Santos’ ability to work with customers to deliver long-term domestic gas supply at competitive prices and also create value for our shareholders.” The signing of the gas supply deal comes weeks after JERAconfirmed deliveryof its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from Santos’ project offshore Australia’s Northern Territory.

Italy’s energy giant Eni has set the wheels in motion to expand its upstream portfolio with three blocks in Argentina, connected to a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project planned for development in the South American country. Eni has signed a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) for the acquisition of a 32% interest in three upstream blocks, includingMeseta Buena Esperanza,Aguada Villanueva, andLas Tacanas, which are part of the unconventional Vaca Muerta basin in Argentina. Mohamed Al Aryani, President of International Gas at XRG, underlined:“Argentina has the potential to play an increasingly important role in meeting the world’s growing demand for natural gas, and projects such as Argentina LNG will be important to unlocking that opportunity. “Vaca Muerta is one of the world’s most attractive gas resources, and this proposed transaction gives XRG a direct role in helping advance a project with the scale, quality and long-term potential to become a significant new source of reliable LNG supply for global markets.” The three blocks will be part of theArgentina LNGintegrated development, an upstream-midstream project aimed at leveraging the Vaca Muerta gas resources, helping to strengthen the country’s position as a global LNG supplier in the long term. Guido Brusco, Eni’s Chief Operating Officer Global Natural Resources, commented:“Our entry into Vaca Muerta unconventional basin, alongside YPF and XRG, strengthens Eni’s ability to develop world-scale gas resources and convert them into competitive LNG for international markets. “Vaca Muerta is one of the world’s richest unconventional basins in terms of resources: our participation positions us across the entire value chain, from Argentine upstream to the supply of LNG to international customers, creating value while contributing to global energy security.” These assets’ resources will feed the 12 million tons per annum (mtpa) of LNG capacity via two floating LNG (FLNG) units of 6 mtpa each. The transaction of the acquisition, subject to approval by the relevant authorities, will enable participation in the three upstream blocks to be held by YPF (36%), Eni (32%), andXRG(32%). Asian player enters South America with multi-year job for Argentina LNG project Al Aryani emphasized:“We are also pleased to be partnering with YPF, a highly capable and strategic partner with deep expertise in Argentina’s energy sector and a leading role in developing Vaca Muerta, and with Eni a leading developer of Floating LNG projects.” This transaction, which is perceived to represent a further significant step toward the maturation of the Argentina LNG project, is in line with Eni’s strategy to strengthen and diversify its upstream gas portfolio, develop integrated projects along the value chain, and expand the marketing of LNG equity, while contributing to the security and competitiveness of energy supplies. Horacio Marín, Chairman and CEO of YPF, noted:“We are taking another step forward in the development of Argentina LNG.
In particolare queste mettono in relazione porti spagnoli (Barcellona, Bilbao, Sagunto, Santander, Valencia e Vigo) con Belgio, Francia, Irlanda e Italia.
