Føn Energy Services Poland has signed a long-term, multi-million-euro agreement with the joint venture […] The post Føn Energy Services secures multi-year O&M contract for Polish offshore wind farm appeared first on Offshore Energy .
Føn Energy Services Poland has signed a long-term, multi-million-euro agreement with the joint venture between Orlen Group and Northland Power to provide integrated operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the 1.2 GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea. Under the agreement, Føn Energy Services will deliver a Balance of Plant (BoP) O&M program covering all subsea assets at the offshore wind farm, including foundations and cables. The multi-year contract, which includes extension options, also includes environmental monitoring activities focused on marine growth and animal habitats. The scope encompasses inspection and corrective maintenance services, project management and planning, vessel chartering and management, logistics, engineering, and procurement. Føn said it would work with local Polish suppliers in delivering the services. “This contract reflects our ability to deliver integrated services for complex energy projects and marks an important step in establishing our presence in the Polish market”,saidSindre Rhrich, CEO at Føn Energy Services. The Baltic Power offshore wind farm, scheduled to become operational in late 2026, is currently under construction 23 kilometers off the coast of the Choczewo municipality. The wind farm will comprise 76 Vestas V236-15.0 MW wind turbines and two offshore substations, all installed on monopile foundations. Both of the project’s substations were installed in 2025, and the installation ofthe wind turbine foundations was completed at the beginning of this year. Wind turbine installation, which started in July 2025, is alsonearing completion. “The establishment of a supply chain for the operational and maintenance phase of Baltic Power has no precedence in the Polish energy sector. With the construction of the O&M base in Łeba, we are creating extensive logistics and maintenance facilities as well as new jobs“, saidMaciej Stryjecki, CEO and the President of the Management Board of Baltic Power. “We have signed the first contracts for specialist maintenance services and inspections of underwater infrastructure, geophysical surveys, and the maintenance of offshore and onshore substation. Even at this early stage of Baltic Power’s operations, a number of Polish companies and research centers will be involved in these tasks – this is a valuable boost for developing local content in offshore wind energy and an incentive for further companies to grow in this sector.” For Føn, the Baltic Power contract is the latest in a series of O&M agreements the company signed for offshore wind farms in the North and Baltic Seas since it wasestablishedin 2022. The company is owned by Norwegian industrial group IKM, DISA International, and Akastor, the Oslo-listed industrial investment company within the Aker Group. In May this year, Føn said it was kicking off its busiest offshore wind season to date, with inspection and repair campaigns underway across 14 offshore wind farms in the Netherlands, Scotland, Germany and Poland. Last year,Føn signed a five-year framework agreement with Enecofor six offshore wind farms in the Netherlands, and is also working for Vattenfall and Shell at Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ), the Netherlands’ first offshore wind farm. In Scotland, Føn is entering the third operational year of its inspection program for Ocean Winds at the Moray East and Moray West projects. The company said in May that it had also commenced work on several projects in the German sectors of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Energy expert and assurance provider DNV has completed an independent technical review of Fred. […] The post DNV assessment clears Fred. Olsen 1848’s floating solar system for rougher conditions appeared first on Offshore Energy .
Energy expert and assurance provider DNV has completed an independent technical review of Fred. Olsen 1848’s floating photovoltaic (FPV) concept designed to operate in rougher, more exposed wave conditions than conventional FPV solutions. “This Statement of Compliance represents a significant milestone for BRIZO. It provides confirmation of the strength of our technical approach and demonstrates that the technology is able to operate in more demanding conditions. It is an important step towards advancing the bankability of our solution and supporting our commercial roadmap,” saidGeir Grimsrud, Chief Technical Officer at Fred. Olsen 1848. The BRIZO floating solar system uses a flexible rope-mesh and tensioning system and is designed for inland, coastal, and near-shore environments where traditional calm-water floating solar systems may face technical and operational limitations. DNV’s review covered the system’s design methodologies, hydrodynamic load assessment, from physical model testing, structural behaviour, and testing procedures, drawing on knowledge from the development of DNV standards ST-E309, ST-C108, and RP-0584. According to the firm, the assessment provides an independent technical basis for the technology to progress toward project development, bankability discussions, and future commercial deployment. “Floating solar is entering a new phase of maturity, where the industry must move beyond sheltered waters to unlock meaningful scale,” saidPrajeev Rasiah, Senior Vice President and Regional Director for Northern Europe, Energy Systems at DNV. “Technologies capable of operating in more exposed environments could significantly expand the addressable market for FPV, particularly in regions facing land constraints, competing land use, or growing pressure on grid infrastructure. Independent technical assurance is essential to demonstrating that these systems can withstand demanding environmental conditions over their full operational lifetime and give developers and investors confidence as the market evolves.” Take the spotlight and anchor your brand in the heart of the offshore world! This deal is worth over $1 billion in contract backlog over seven rig years, excluding additional services. The assignment applies to three Cat D rigs, which are designed for Norwegian winter conditions and originally purpose-built for Equinor.
