ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) —CarolinaandColoradohave been well-built for a championship run for a few years now. TheHurricanesand theAvalanchehave put on a clinic for how to start the race. The top two teams in theNHLduring the regular season, seemingly on a collision course to meet in the Stanley Cup Final, have been performing on the ice with a force to match their natural-disaster-themed nicknames. Neither the Canes nor the Avs have lost a game in theseplayoffs. With a 4-1 win atPhiladelphiaon Thursdayto take a 3-0 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series, the Hurricanes became the 13th team in NHL history to start a postseason with seven straight wins. Eight of the first 12 won the Stanley Cup. The Hurricanes will send sizzling goalieFrederik Andersenout for Game 4 on Saturday to try to finish off the Flyers, seeking a sweep that would give them the league's first 8-0 start in the playoffs since 1985. “I would anticipate we’re going to give it our best, because we’re going to need to,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “We’re not going to win if we don’t put our best foot forward.” Only three teams in NHL history have overcome a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series, but plenty of teams have managed to at least force a fifth game. “The fourth one is the hardest one to win. No one wants to go home,” Hurricanes captainJordan Staalsaid. “It's going to be a brand-new challenge.” Only two teams have started the playoffs 7-0 in the last three decades. Colorado, which has already scored 14 goals on Minnesota in their Western Conference semifinal series, would make it two in the same year by winning Game 3 on Saturday night. The NHL gave the Avalanche and Wild three days between games to sync up the schedules of the four ongoing series. “For our team, the energy and pace that we want to play with on a nightly basis that helps us have success, it doesn’t hurt,” Colorado coach Jared Bednar said. “It doesn’t hurt to be rested and recovered and still get a little practice time in to go out and feel good about your puck touches and your systems and everything. Meetings don’t have to get crammed in. You can take your time and get feedback from the guys." The Hurricanes, who have made the playoffs in each of eight seasons under Brind’Amour, lost to eventual championFloridain the Eastern Conference finals last year. They would tie for the 10th-longest winning streakin a single NHL postseasonby beating the Flyers on Saturday. Twenty-three teams in league history have won eight or more consecutive playoff games in the same year, and 18 of them won the Stanley Cup. One of the five that came up short was the 1992Chicago Blackhawks, who matched the all-time record with 11 straight playoff wins. ThePittsburgh Penguinsalso staked claim to the record that spring, finishing with a four-game sweep in the Stanley Cup Final. The Avalanche are aiming to emulate the way the Canes powered through the Philadelphia crowd noise to win a feisty Game 3. Minnesota has not hosted a game this late in the postseason since 2015. “It will be a rockin’ environment,” Avs goalieScott Wedgewoodsaid. “That’s what makes playoff so fun, right?” When/Where to Watch: Game 4, Saturday, 6 p.m. EDT (TNT, truTV,HBO Max). Series: Hurricanes lead 3-0. The Flyers have been unable to solve Carolina's stifling defense, with just three goals in three games. Their league-worst power play during the regular season has carried over, with just one goal in 12 opportunities in this series and a 3-for-29 showing in nine playoff games. When/Where to Watch: Game 4, Saturday, 9 p.m. EDT (TNT, truTV, HBO Max). Series: Avalanche lead 2-0. The Wild have spent the extra time off trying to shore up their penalty kill, which has been dearly missing centerJoel Eriksson Ekand defensemanJonas Brodin. But after dominatingDallasat even strength in the first round they've also struggled to contain Colorado's high-octane forwards in 5-on-5 situations. Minnesota might go back to rookie goalieJesper Wallstedtafter givingFilip Gustavssonthe net for a 5-2 loss in Game 2. ___ AP Sports Writers Dan Gelston in Philadelphia and Pat Graham in Denver contributed to this report. ___ AP NHL playoffs:https://apnews.com/hub/stanley-cupandhttps://apnews.com/hub/nhl
Abby Kiem strikes out nine and a first-time MVP sparks the offense in the shutout.
RIVERDALE – Emma Cifelli won her third Passaic County softball title in her career, almost as importantly, was named the game MVP in the post-game huddle for the first time this season. “I mean, I was surprised, I couldn’t really believe it, and I was just so excited in the moment too,” said the DePaul junior outfielder. “It feels great. It gets better every year. It never gets old and I hope we do it again next year.” Powered by a 3-for-4 day by Cifelli, two RBIs by Arianna Avella and a first-inning home run from star Kaelyn Brown, the top-seeded Spartans blanked Passaic Valley 7-0 at Independence Park May 8 to win their third Passaic County softball title in a row. It is also the school’s 10th title in the last 14 tournaments – there was no tournament in 2020. Coming in, about the only one without a Spartans Passaic County champs t-shirt was first-year coach Shawn Stacevicz. That’s changed. “I knew we were going to get the job done. Abby [Kiem] told me she felt real good and you could see when KB popped that first one, if she feels good it’s all over,” said Stacevicz. The game began in a steady spring rain, before the sun broke through. Passaic Valley standout Lily Allmendinger, the second batter of the contest, drove a ball deep into left field, where it was caught two steps in from the fence by Jenna Regan. In the bottom of the first, Cifelli, who bats second for DePaul, laced a single to left. Brown then roped a laser to right field that sailed over the fence by a few feet. “I had no idea off the bat,” Brown said. “I only noticed when I got to second base and I looked and I was like, wow.” “Going up 2-0 in the first inning is [big],” Stacevicz said. “After she hit that home run, I knew we were going to start rolling.” DePaul broke it open in the third. Kiem walked to lead off the inning and Cifelli singled. Brown walked to load the bases. Regan clocked an RBI single and two more runs came in on walks. Cifelli singled again in the fourth to ignite another rally to make it 7-0. “Emma had a great game,” said Brown. “It feels great. I am excited. We have worked all year for this, workouts in March and to come here and win and show out is a great feeling.” Kiem was impressive again in the circle for DePaul, striking out nine and scattering five hits. “We did a good job all the way around −pitching, hitting, we had a good eye at the plate, all around it was a great game,” Stacevicz said. The Spartans' post-game huddle was loud. Stacevicz announced Cifelli was the MVP and that there was no practice May 9 for the team. “I told them you played the way you’re supposed to play, the way champions play, great pitching, great defense and timely hits win games all day long,” Stacevicz said. “I am very proud of these guys.” DePaul will now turn to preparing to defend their Non-Public B state title. They will play Shore Conference power Donovan Catholic next week, which will be a major test. “We will represent the North. I am confident of winning the North,” said Stacevicz. “I know St. Joe’s Hammonton is always tough. They have been around 20 years. They have some good kids.”

This Cashmere White 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI was ordered without a sunroof or air conditioning, and it had one owner in Washington for more than 25 years. The car was lot #25 when it was soldon BaT in September 2014. Refurbishments around eight years ago included a glass-out repaint, refreshing its Midnight Blue interior, replacing the clutch for its five-speed manual transaxle, and servicing its fuel-injected 1.8L inline-four, which was equipped with a Techtonics Tuning camshaft and exhaust system. The car was then soldon BaT in February 2019, and its cooling system was overhauled before the vehicle was acquired by the selleron BaT in January 2023, which was followed by fresh tires, ceramic window tint, and service for its front end, shifter, valve cover, and a CV axle. This Westmoreland GTI is offered at no reserve with service records, a log dating to 2012, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. The car was finished at the factory in Cashmere White (LE9C), and its bumpers, glass, trim, interior, and engine were removed prior to its two-stage repaint in 2018, at which time emblems, lenses, moldings, seals, and gaskets were replaced. Dings and dents were repaired during the work, and rust damage at the rear was cut out and replaced with welded metal. Ceramic window tint was applied in October 2024. The car was dented above a window under current ownership. Inner and outer tie-rods were replaced in 2023, which was followed by a four-wheel alignment, and the 14″ Snowflake alloys were mounted with 185/60 Kumho Solus TA51a tires. The cabin features Midnight Blue striped cloth upholstery. In 2018, the seats were reupholstered over new cushions, and replacement carpets were installed over sound-deadening insulation. A replacement headliner is also fitted, and the dashboard houses a JVC stereo with Bluetooth and a USB port. Gears for the 120-mph speedometer were repaired in 2014, and the six-digit mechanical odometer now shows 141k miles, around 2k of which were added by the seller. The 1.8-liter inline-four was equipped at the factory with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, and it was rated when new at 90 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque. In 2018, it was retrofitted with a G-Grind solid-lifter camshaft and a 2″ cat-back exhaust system, both from Techtonics Tuning, and the timing belt was replaced along with ignition components and the oxygen sensor. The water pump, thermostat, and radiator were replaced in 2022. The valve cover gasket was replaced in 2023. The seller notes an oil leak. The clutch assembly for the five-speed manual transaxle was replaced in 2018. Shifter bushings, the clutch cable, and the right-front CV axle were replaced in June 2023. Damage to the right front is listed in a July 2009 entry on the Carfax report. A November 2022 entry notes that the vehicle was designated as a Gross Polluter by the State of California. The car most recently passed a California emissions test in August 2024. We need to confirm your billing address in order to appropriately charge fees and taxes should you win an auction.

HyOrc Disrupts Methanol Market with €350/Tonne Production Economics; Featured in Dow Jones’ OPIS Global Report...
HOUSTON, May 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HyOrc Corporation (OTCQB:HYOR) today announced that its commercial development strategy and projected production economics were featured in the April-2026OPIS Global Methanol Report(Issue 373) byDow Jones. Dominating the Marine Fuel Transition Methanol has emerged as the premier decarbonization fuel for the global shipping industry. As ship owners face aggressive carbon-mandates that diesel cannot meet, methanol provides a "technology-ready" pathway. Unlike alternative energy carriers requiring trillions in new infrastructure, methanol leverages existing global handling-systems, positioning HyOrc’s modular production at the center of a massive industrial transition. Validated Economics and Internal Power Recovery HyOrc has confirmed a targetedLevelized Cost of Methanol of €350 per tonne, a profile achieved through a "dual-economics" model where revenue from waste diversion offsets production costs. Profitability is further enhanced by HyOrc’s integrated energy strategy: the facility utilizes a portion of the incoming Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) to generate internal power via a proprietary HyOrc engine. By powering the energy-intensive synthesis-process internally, the Company significantly slashes operating expenses. This configuration was part of the process recently validated byBureau Veritaswithzero non-conformance reports (NCRs). Strategic Financing and Execution The Company is progressing through final mobilization for its first commercial facility in Porto, Portugal, held in a Joint Venture with MO.RE.DA. Oils, Lda.. “We aren't just proving the science; we’re proving the margins,” said CEO Reginald Fubara. “The recognition by a Dow Jones-owned publication confirms that the industry is waking up to our model. At €350/tonne, we are delivering the holy grail: a sustainable fuel that is economically superior to fossil alternatives.” About HyOrc CorporationHyOrc Corporation (OTCQB: HYOR) develops and commercializes patented hydrogen-capable combustion and waste-to-fuel systems for the shipping, rail, and off-grid power sectors.
