DP World looks set to finally break into the US market after entering into an “exclusive negotiation agreement” for a long-term lease to develop and operate a container terminal at the Gulf coast port of Corpus Christi. The Texan port is currently a major export gateway for US LNG and crude oil shipments but currently has no container handling capabilities, and under the development being discussed by DP World and the port authority, the Dubai-headquartered operator “would design, build, and operate a new container terminal, expanding capacity and strengthening supply chain connectivity across the Gulf coast”. Currently, the vast majority of container volumes in the western part of the Gulf are handled at the three terminals at Houston, which hosts some 30 container services and last year saw a throughput of just over 3.6m teu. Houston’s total capacity is currently 4.3m teu, indicating a 2025 utilisation rate of 85% and suggesting the region is in need of more terminal capacity. “The US Gulf coast is one of the nation’s most important trade and economic corridors, and demand for efficient, resilient port infrastructure continues to grow,” Brian Enright, chief executive of DP World in the Americas, said. “The Port of Corpus Christi presents a significant opportunity to expand container capacity, strengthen supply chain connectivity, and create new pathways for American businesses to access global markets. “We look forward to working closely with the port authority, local labour, and other stakeholders to deliver a world-class terminal that supports job creation, attracts new trade flows, and generates long-term economic value for South Texas and the broader US economy,” he added. The negotiations began following the port’s completion of the capital dredge of its access channel allowing the access of larger ships to the port. “Completion of the landmark Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project in June 2025 – thanks largely to investments by the federal government – has unlocked the potential for existing port customers to meet evolving demands of the global marketplace while spurring additional cargo diversification,” Kent Britton, chief executive of the Port of Corpus Christi, said. “Entering into exclusive negotiations with DP World is another important step in our long-term strategy to expand the port’s capabilities, deliver greater value to our customers, and ignite investment in the Coastal Bend,” he added. While the negotiations will “focus on terminal design, capacity planning, and investment structure”, if the partners press ahead with the project, it would “mark DP World’s first container terminal development in the country after it wasnotoriouslypressured into relinquishing control of six US terminals during its acquisition of P&O Ports in 2006. “DP World’s global expertise in terminal operations and integrated logistics makes them a strong partner as we explore the development of container services at the port,” Mr Britton added. The most likely possible site in Corpus Christi is the La Quinta Terminal Gateway, which reportedly has 1,300 acres set aside for future port development projects.

Houston-headquartered oil & gas company Murphy Oil has made an oil discovery at the Bubale-1X exploration well in Block CI-709, located approximately 64 kilometers offshore Côte d’Ivoire. The Bubale-1X well was drilled to a total depth of 6,263 meters in 2,376 meters of water and encountered 30 meters of net oil pay across two reservoirs, with preliminary assessment indicating high-quality light oil, Murphy Oil reported. “Early results at Bubale reinforce the prospectivity of our Côte d’Ivoire acreage,”saidEric Hambly, President and Chief Executive Officer of Murphy Oil.“We are pleased with the results to date, which underscore the value of a disciplined and consistent exploration approach. Our immediate focus now is advancing evaluation plans to define the discovery’s full potential.” The well is the third and final in the company’s current three-well exploration campaign in Côte d’Ivoire. Following these results, Murphy Oil plans to move into the next phase of evaluation, with one well planned for the second half of 2026 to test the extent of the discovery. The Bubale-1X well was spud in late February by Murphy CI-709 Oil Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Murphy Oil Corporation and operator of Block CI-709. Murphy holds a 90% working interest in the block, with Société Nationale d’Opérations Pétrolières de la Côte d’Ivoire (PETROCI) holding the remaining 10%. Beacon Offshore Energy, a Texas-based exploration and production company, has advanced two projects by bringing online a second well at a field in the Gulf of America (the U.S. Gulf of Mexico) and drilling another at a different development, which is anticipated to achieve first oil by the end of 2026. Beacon has drilled the firstMonument fielddevelopment well located in Walker Ridge Block 315 to its total measured depth of 32,250 feet in a structurally high location, encountering 245 net feet true vertical thickness pay, which confirms pre-drill expectations of high-quality Lower Wilcox oil reservoirs consistent with wells drilled during the exploration and appraisal phase. The rig operations at the field will continue with the drilling of the second Monument development well, followed by completion operations at the two initial wells. The U.S. company expects first oil to occur prior to year-end 2026. The Monument project is being developed via a two-well, 17-mile subsea tie-back to the Beacon-operatedShenandoahfloating production system. This asset has been designed as a regional host facility that will enable the development of resources in the northwestern area of Walker Ridge, including the Shenandoah, Monument, andShenandoah Southfields. Oil & gas search in US Gulf: Drilling ops underway at one project with appraisal coming up soon at another The Texas-based player also revealed the start-up of oil and natural gas production from a second well in theZephyrus field(Zephyrus #2) in late April 2026. Zephyrus #2 was completed in the first quarter of 2026 and is producing from high-quality Miocene sands. Combined with the first Zephyrus well (Zephyrus #1), which began production in late 2025, the field is expected to reach a peak production rate exceeding 20,000 boepd. This field is situated in Mississippi Canyon Block 759. The Zephyrus development ties into the Shell-operatedWest Boreassubsea infrastructure with processing on theOlympusproduction platform in the Mars corridor. Beacon is joined by Houston Energy, HEQ II, Red Willow Offshore, Westlawn Americas Offshore, and Murphy Exploration & Production in the Zephyrus development. Scott Gutterman, Beacon’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented:“We are pleased to report continued execution success across our deep inventory of operated developments. “The Monument drilling results support our subsurface interpretation of the field, while the successful startup of Zephyrus #2 further expands our growing production base. Rising WR Prospects Shine at Oklahoma's Second Brent Venables Camp

Jaylen Grier and Rush Williams both showcased why they've each earned several Power Four offers at the Sooners' Brent Venables Football Camp on Wednesday.
For thesecond day in a row, college football hopefuls from Oklahoma and elsewhere took to Everest Training Center to compete in front of the Sooners’ coaches and players. Wednesday marked thesecond of fourBrent Venables Elite Football Camps, held on OU’s campus. Here are some notes from the second day of camp: A pair of wideouts with Power Four offers made the most of the one-on-one portion of the afternoon session. One of them was Class of 2028 prospectJaylen Grier, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide receiver from Santa Ana, CA. Grier worked on both sides of the ball during the one-on-one drills, which marked the final portion of Wednesday’s clinic. His physicality and ability to win over the top stood out, and he won the majority of his reps. Grier, though, did get handsy on some of his wide receiver reps. Though Grier is unranked by both Rivals and 247Sports, the wideout has earned Division I offers from Arizona, Vanderbilt, Washington, Oregon State, UNLV, Colorado State, San Jose State and Sacramento State. Wide receiverRush Williamsstill has three years of high school football left as a Class of 2029 prospect, but he has already caught the attention of several major programs. A native of Katy, TX, Williams attended Wednesday's camp and made the most of his 6-2, 180-pound frame. He came down with several contested catches during one-on-ones, and broke away from opposing defensive backs early in routes multiple times. Williams is the son of former Washington wide receiverReggie Williams, who later spent five seasons in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars. So far, Williams has collected offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, SMU, Oregon, Nebraska and Mississippi State in addition to several other Power Four schools. Class of 2027 wide receiverJaden Kendrickdoesn’t have any stars next to his name, but he was the clear standout in one-on-ones. The undersized, 5-7 wideout won just about every rep during that portion of camp, using his speed and twitchiness to break free from defensive backs. Midway through one-on-ones, he even shouted — with a grin — “give me somebody,” implying that he wanted to be matched up against a stingier defensive back. The only offer that Kendrick has announced on his X (formerly Twitter) account is from East Texas Baptist University, but he earned a spring game invite to Division I FCS Tarleton State. He also competed at the Navy All-American Combine in January. Kendrick is entering his final year at North Shore High School in Houston. William Green IIIstill has three years of high school left, but he’s already become a commodity on the recruiting trail. And on Wednesday, he showed why. Green’s movements looked fluid and natural during the position drills led by OU running backs coachDeland McCullough. He stands 5-10 and weighs 195 pounds, according to 247Sports. Green will be a sophomore at Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, TX, in the fall. The running back prospect has earned 14 Division I offers thus far. Democrats Must Learn to Talk Sports
📰 The Atlantic 📅 2026-06-02 📍 Houston en
Politicians need as much attention as possible, as frequently as possible, while seeming as relatable as possible. A cheat code exists to hit all three objectives.
For the first time since 1999, the New York Knicks will appear in the NBA Finals. It’s a momentous occasion for a city and fan base starved for basketball success. President Trump, never missing an opportunity to insert himself into the discourse, has suggested that he’ll attend a game in Madison Square Garden. When asked about the president’s ambitions to attend a game, New York Governor Kathy Hochulchallengedhim to name the starting lineup of the “1993 championship team.” But the Knicks didn’t win the championship in 1993. They did make the finals in 1994, but lost to the Houston Rockets. The most recent Knicks championship was, in fact, in 1973. Hochul’s press office has sincesaid on Xthat Hochul slipped up on purpose: She “was baiting Trump into pretending that team won the finals. A classic 4D chess move.” The likelier explanation is that the Democratic governor, presented with the opportunity to score a couple of easy political points, had missed the layup. That would certainly fit the pattern. Democratic politicians are decades into an authenticity problem. Fairly or not, voters—especially men—tend to perceive Democrats as unrelatable, scripted, and disconnected from the population they seek to govern. The solution seemingly favored by Democratic consultants is for anyone with presidential aspirations to appear on as many manosphere podcasts as possible or play footsie with edgy streamers. But appearing on this or that platform is not really what matters. Rather, the game is to get as much attention as possible, as frequently as possible, while seeming as relatable as possible. A cheat code exists to hit all three objectives: sports talk. The contemporary sports-media landscape is designed to take ruthless advantage of the fact that nothing generates attention more reliably than controversy. Personalities such as Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless have made fortunes because they understand that sparking disagreement equals clicks and attention. Their debates may be contrived, inconsequential, and moronic. Their arguments may be made in bad faith. Yet they and other talking heads play on an endless loop on screens across the country. An entire genre of sports podcasts, meanwhile, seems to exist only to generate clips of the most outrageous opinions and post them to TikTok and YouTube. As Democratic politicians scramble to seem in touch and ensure that their faces appear on our phones as much as possible, they are neglecting the free real estate offered by sports talk. Apopular mememocks men for being content to sit and name obscure athletes to one another for hours. It’s popular because it isn’t far from the truth. The politically disengaged male voters whom Democrats are so desperate to reach aren’t at bars arguing about Medicare funding. They are arguing about a roughing-the-passer penalty. Bettors on Polymarket give Stephen A. Smith higher odds of winning the 2028 Democratic presidential primary than Cory Booker, Raphael Warnock, and Ruben Gallego. Nothing gets attention like sports takes. Chris Murphy: My son’s hockey team and the crisis of American resentment Trump seems to understand this. He takes controversial positions on sports and talks about them in words that sound sincere. The NFL’s kickoff rules, recently changed to reduce injuries during returns, are a particular passion of his. After attending the 2025 Super Bowl, the presidentpostedon Truth Social: “The worst part of the Super Bowl, by far, was watching the Kickoff where, as the ball is sailing through the air, the entire field is frozen, stiff. College Football does not do it, and won’t! Whose idea was it to ruin the Game?” How much Trump personally cares about sports other than golf is unclear, but he knows which buttons to press. He goes to UFC fights; he goes to the Super Bowl; he has pro athletes—most recently the Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart—speak at his rallies. Sports fans can relate, because this is how many of us would abuse our power if we were president. Some other politicians are getting it. Ron DeSantis, who was widely mocked during the 2024 primaries for his robot-like demeanor, is happy to go on podcasts to discuss how the transfer portal and name, image, and likeness payments are ruining college football. DeSantis even remarked at a recent press conference that, although the University of Florida’s basketball team was the defending NCAA champion at the time, the fans weren’t happy, because the football team was bad. He understands his audience. Zohran Mamdani, the rare Democrat who seems fluent in sports, has made a point of showing off his extensive knowledge of the English Premier League and has made his fandom of the Knicks and Mets apparent. After the Knicks swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA playoffs, Mamdaniwent on Xto troll the Ohio Republican candidate for governor Vivek Ramaswamy. Compare these examples with the way in which the 2024 Kamala Harris campaign tried to channel some of sports talk’s power after selecting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a former high-school-football coach, as Harris’s running mate. “Coach Walz,” as Harris called him at the event announcing his candidacy, seemed more content to let people writeabouthis sports identity than to demonstrate it. On October 27, the nation found out why. After Walz joined Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on a Twitch livestream to playMadden, the über-popular football video game, his campaign’s X account posted that “@AOC can run a mean pick 6.” A pick-six (when an interception is returned for a touchdown) is an outcome, not a play. The gaffe was probably the fault of a social-media staffer, not Walz himself. Even so, it went viral in sports group chats across the country. But the more telling moment had actually come a week earlier, when Walz appeared onThe Rich Eisen Show. During his 15-minute segment, Walz went out of his way to compliment the University of Michigan’s football fans, Lambeau Field in Wisconsin, and the coach of the Detroit Lions (also in Michigan). The appearance didn’t generate the kind of viral contempt that greeted the pick-six post. Indeed, the YouTube excerpt of Walz’s appearance on Eisen’s show has just 50,000 views. (By contrast, Trump’s appearance on the sports-and-entertainment podcastBussin’ With the Boys, which was released just a few days earlier, has nearly 10 times as many.) And that’s exactly the problem: Walz avoided controversy by saying nice things about everyone, thus defeating the purpose of talking sports. In the realm of sports talk, kindness is unrelatable; it’s alien, even. What’s relatable is irrationally caring for your team and irrationally hating its rivals—not pandering by saying that you happen to like all of the teams in key Rust Belt swing states. If Democrats want to defeat authoritarianism, they need to win the trust of people who are not necessarily politically engaged. To do that, they could do worse than to start expressing their own hot takes on sports. These shouldn’t repeat already-popular opinions as a way to seem relatable. The perfect take should be actuallyunpopular, counter to the consensus, and specific. The Senate candidate James Talarico doesn’t need to run away from his meatless-taco order. Instead, he could prove that he’s a regular guy by calling into ESPN Austin to accuse the University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning of being a nepo baby who got millions of dollars just for his name. Or perhaps he could compare Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys’ imperious owner, to Trump: an egotistical old man destroying a once-proud institution. Indeed, the sports world offers fertile terrain for class politics. Progressive Democrats have been trying, with limited success, to convince Americans that billionaires are their true enemy. Well, guess who loves to hate billionaires: aggrieved sports fans. Why not take a break from complaining that billionaires don’t pay their fair share ofincometaxes to focus instead on team owners’ obsession with avoiding theluxurytax by trading away their best players? Perhaps AOC could earn some support in Staten Island if she hammered Hal Steinbrenner, the owner of the New York Yankees, for letting Juan Soto go to the crosstown Mets to save on his tax bill. Dan Moore: Taxpayers are about to subsidize a lot more sports stadiums Josh Shapiro, of Pennsylvania, is one of the most popular Democratic governors in the country. Is it any coincidence that he drew headlines last year by complaining about the NFL’s attempts to ban the Philadelphia Eagles’ famed “tush push”? If he runs for president, he could go further still: Insinuate that the Eagles lost the 2023 Super Bowldue to sabotageby a groundskeeper with suspiciously close ties to the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s going to lose in Missouri regardless, so he might as well shore up those Pennsylvania votes while proving that he’s just as deranged as the rest of us sports fans. The point isn’t the substance of the opinion—it’s the willingness to defend it. Sports takes are a simple way to show that you have the backbone to stand for something unpopular because you believe in it. The counterargument to all of this is that politicians, especially dorky Democratic politicians, simply don’t have hot sports takes to offer, because they aren’t actually fans. But if you can’t relate to something that resonates so strongly with American people, then you need to reevaluate your role as a politician in an electoral democracy. Aspiring leaders who aren’t up on sports would do well to set aside some time to at least watch the highlights. They will find that sports opinions have a key advantage over policy arguments: If elected, politicians can never be held accountable for them.

The Sporting News High School Football Spring Top 25, from IMG Academy to South Oak Cliff
📰 Sporting News 📅 2026-05-11 📍 Houston en
Fast-rising Baylor from Chattanooga checks in at No. 12
The beginning of another high school football season is only about three months away in the earliest states, and that means it's a good time to take a look at where things stand in the spring. The Buford [GA] Wolves will enter the 2026 season as the defending Sporting News High School Football National Champions. As things stand right now, they're still riding high at No. 3 in The Sporting News High School Football Spring Top 25. The only two teams ranked above them are two teams that were scheduled to play last November in a game that would have played a big role in determining the national champion. The IMG Academy [Bradenton, FL] Ascenders are absolutely loaded as always, and they're coming off an undefeated 9-0 season in which they were ranked No. 1 headed into that scheduled matchup with the No. 2 St. Frances Academy [Baltimore, MD] Panthers. Due to the national championship ramifications surrounding that game, the two schools initially agreed to postpone their contest until early December, when the state championships would be well underway across the country. Neither IMG Academy nor St. Frances Academy competes in the state associations in their respective states, and their early November contest would have come long before the state championships were decided in many states. But then a bombshell came when top-ranked IMG Academy ultimately decided to cancel the contest altogether, leaving St. Frances Academy scrambling to arrange another postseason contest. Ultimately, they were invited to host the Overtime Nationals championship game, wherethey beat the Corner Canyon [Draper, UT] Chargers, 37-20, for a share of the national title. 2025 Record:9-02025 Final Ranking:SN No. 3 Top Losses:OT Keenyi Pope (USC), Jake Kreul (Oklahoma), IOL Breck Kolojay, S Zech Fort (Georgia), CB AJ Marks (Wake Forest), DL Cam McHaney (Indiana), ATH Lekhy Thompkins (Louisville), IOL Will Conroy (North Carolina), DL Cameron Brickle II (Maryland), IOL G'Nivre Carr (Florida), DL Preston Carey (Georgia), ATH Alex Ward (Colorado) Top Returnees:EDGE Zyron Forstall, WR Eric McFarland III, WR Osani Gayles, CB Aaryn Washington, CB Censere Gaylord, WR Zion White, LB Amarri Irvin, S Larry Moon III, S Charles Roberts, LB Liufau Loumoli, DL Joseph Graves IMG Academy will once again field a team as talented as any squad in the country, with 11 players ranked among Florida's Top 100 prospects heading into the 2026 season. The Ascenders are scheduled to take on Hawaii's St. Louis in a neutral site game in California early in the season, along with high-profile matchups against The St. James Academy of Virginia, The NFL Academy from England and The Hun School of New Jersey. ‘Grazie’ a Hormuz noli marittimi da record per le navi gasiere di grande portata
📰 ShippingItaly Media 📅 2026-05-11 📍 Houston it
U.S. oilfield services company Weatherford International has lined up new assignments with two offshore drilling players, U.S.-headquartered Noble Corporation and Brazil’s Constellation Oil Services. Weatherford has been awarded multiple managed pressure drilling (MPD) contracts and a global aftermarket agreement with Noble, strengthening the duo’s long-standing relationship. These awards entail the delivery of two deepwater managed pressure drilling systems to support the rig owner’s Guyana operations, with delivery expected before year-end. Given the Trump administration’s zest to bolster oil and gas resources, offshore operators are taking action to find more hydrocarbon resources. While drilling activities are ongoing at one development in the Gulf of America (U.S. Gulf of Mexico), appraisal operations are slated to kick off at another project before the end of the second quarter of 2026. The drilling operations have begun atMonumentwith continuous drilling and completion activities planned throughout 2026, as first production, which is expected between 20–30 million barrels of oil (boe) per day gross, remains on track by late 2026. This is a large Wilcox oil discovery in Walker Ridge blocks 271, 272, 315, and 316, operated byBeacon Offshore Energy(41.7%), withTalos Energy(29.7%) andNavitas Petroleum(28.6%) as its partners. Monument is being developed as a subsea tie-back to theShenandoahproduction facility in Walker Ridge with a committed firm capacity of 20 million bbl/d. Talos claims that there is a prospective drilling location that could extend the resource beyond the base development case. The company also anticipates drilling operations to start on theDaenerysappraisal well late in the second quarter of 2026 to further define the discovered resource on Walker Ridge blocks 106, 107, 150, and 151. The discovery well has been temporarily suspended to preserve its future utility. The operator feels encouraged by the Daenerys discovery well’s results, which confirm the presence of oil and validate the firm’s geologic and geophysical models. Talos drilled and completed theCardonawell in late 2025, with production commencing in early 2026 and flowing to its ownedPompanofacility. The firm holds a 65% operated interest, and an entity managed by Ridgewood has the remaining 35% stake. Texans Power Rankings: Houston's newest addition shore up trenches and top 10 spot
📰 USA Today 📅 2026-05-05 📍 Houston en
Where do the Houston Texans rank entering the 2026 summer ahead of a new season? According to Sports Illustrated's Connor Orr, the draftees push Houston into the top five.
Where do theHouston Texansrank entering the 2026 summer ahead of a new season? It was a quietly productive offseason for Houston following its playoff loss to New England. After moving off of Tytus Howard, theTexansshored up the offensive line in free agency with the signings of Braden Smith and Wyatt Teller. On defense, Houston extended several candidates, including All-Pro Will Anderson Jr., and brought in outside names like defensive back Reed Blankenship and defensive tackle Logan Hall. Eight players were selected last month during the NFL draft. Several, including offensivelineman Keylan Rutledgeanddefensive tackle Kayden McDonald, should be Day 1 contributors. Others, liketight end Marlin Kleinanddefensive back Kamari Ramsey, are likely long-term depth pieces to shore up question marks for the future. So, where does Houston rank entering the summer? Sports Illustrated's Connor Orrrecently revealed his newest power rankings after the draft. While the Texans didn't take the top spot in the AFC, they did rank fourth among contenders in the conference and sixth overall, trailing theBuffalo Bills(No. 3),Denver Broncos(No. 4) and Kansas City Chiefs (No. 5). When prompted to break down the Texans' ranking, Orr pointed to the additions of Rutledge and McDonald as game-changers for the trenches, thus creating more stability in the weakpoint of the squad from last year. "Keylan Rutledge and Kayden McDonald with the first two picks is a dream scenario for Houston,"Orr wrote. "This offensive line will have at least three new starters, and McDonald gets to slot in behind Sheldon Rankins, one of the more underrated modern defensive tackles, whose evolved understanding of the defense allows playmakers behind him more opportunities. McDonald is going to swallow blocks and set the Texans’ screaming linebacker corps free." Houston returns nine starters from the No. 1 defense a season ago. McDonald won't be a Day 1 starter opposite the recently-signed Sheldon Rankins, but he is expected to rotate in with Tommy Togiai on run-heavy snaps to contain backs from breaking to the outside. As for Rutledge, while he played guard in college, some believe he's destined to shift inside even more to center. Jake Andrews started there last fall, but it would be far from shocking to see the Georgia Tech standout shift inside and build a rapport with C.J. Stroud. 2026 NFL mock draft round-up: Who are Houston's picks in Rounds 2 and 3?
📰 USA Today 📅 2026-04-24 📍 Houston en
As the NFL Draft draws near, the Houston Texans once again remain tied to the trenches.
Welcome to Houston,Keylan Rutledge. Who else is coming to theHouston Texansahead of Saturday's final day of the 2026 NFL Draft? TheTexansdidn't wait for theGeorgia Tech offensive linemanto fall into their lap at pick No. 28. They knew he was destined to be a part of the long-term plan, which is why they traded up two spots to get him. “This guy is all ball,”Texansgeneral manager Nick Caserio said. “Doesn’t care about anything else. He wants to punch you in the mouth and that works here.” Once the run on offensive linemen began, Houston knew it needed to settle on its top pick. The name: Rutledge, a mauler in the trenches who excelled in run blocking during his lone season in Atlanta. The 6-foot-4, 318-pound lineman didn't allow a sack in over 400 pass-blocking reps last season and has position flexibility, having tested at guard and center, helping the Yellow Jackets secure a 10-win season. "Toughness, violence, physicality, playing style, his intelligence," Caserio said of the newcomer. "I mean, basically, the guy wants to step on your throat on every play, which I would say sort of embodies what our football team is about, the way we play, intense, violent, physical. We’re going to run the football this year.” So the Texans have added a new interior offensive lineman entering a crucial year. Who else could be on the board when Houston picks at No. 38? What about at the end of Round 2? And does anyone else say Houston will move up from No. 91? Texans Wirehas rounded up the latest 2026 NFL mock drafts, where experts believe the Texans will more than likely shore up the trenches on the defensive side in Round 2. From Miller on McDonald:"McDonald was a possibility for Houston in the first round. Giving coach DeMeco Ryans a space-eating nose tackle who was active enough to make 65 tackles last season almost seems unfair. With the starter-caliber offensive tackles off the board, this is an easy pick for Houston." From Flick on Miller:"Houston improved its interior offensive line with Keylan Rutledge in the first round, and it should continue bolstering its defensive line on Day 2. Miller blends power and athleticism to thrive against the run and flash on passing downs." From Edwards on Trotter:"Houston gets a tough, instinctive linebacker to plug into DeMeco Ryans' defense." Baumgardner on Terrell:"The corners took a tumble again in this year’s draft, which is sort of becoming a theme. Terrell is another top-30 player on my board and could push for starting time immediately." Locker on Hill Jr.:"With both Azeez Al-Shaair and Henry To’oTo’o soon to be free agents, the Texans would be shrewd to pick a starting-caliber linebacker. With few such options remaining, Hill makes sense given his 79.7 PFF run-defense grade, 4.5% missed tackle rate and local ties." From Thompson on Lew:"Rutledge could be viewed simply as a guard who is competing with Wyatt Teller for reps at left guard. That means that Lew could end up being the best player on the board. He was considered a fringe Day 1 prospect entering the year, but a torn ACL suffered in October stunted his draft stock. A team captain and two-year starter with the Tigers, the All-SEC lineman has been regarded as athletic and quick, and strong at the point of attack and capable of getting to the second level." From Easterling:
